Large-scale droughts monitoring using in-situ meteorological stations from 1961 to 2015 in China

I built scPDSI with the observed daily temperature and precipitation data from 1961 to 2015 from 2360 meteorological stations in China. I got the temporal and spatial patterns and analyzed drought number, duration, intensity, frequency, and affected areas. This work highlights drought trajectory, which provides insight into drought management.

Overall, there is no evidence of a drying trend in China from 1961 to 2015 across whole regions. But there were significant moistening trends and drying regionally. For example, Qinghai-Tibet and the southeast experienced drying trends.

I used high density meteorological station across China to calculate sc-PDSI. The center of drought gradually shifts from the northwest region to the southwest region, from sparse population areas to dense areas.
